Life hasn’t been too bad, though it could be a little more kind over the past months. But who am I to ask for better days when other people from around the world are currently suffering from natural disasters as well as massacre that are caused by human stupidity. I’M dying just looking at how our Government is running the country. My thoughts go out to Japan.

That aside, I don’t think I have fully recovered from homesickness just yet. I can easily go on with the pictures taken during my spontaneous trip back to KL this year, but I shall save the rest for some other time. Am missing home dearly, but I must do what must be done. A full-time job by April or bust.

Let’s do it, Slinky!

This paper may have cost AUD20,000, but the experiences that came with it are priceless.

Know You Rights!

26 October 2010

I guess it comes as no surprise to Malaysian citizens that our beloved police force has been far disappointing, to say the least. Trying not to be biased, I did stumble upon a couple of well behaved ones and far more educated in many ways so I’m going to try not to discriminate the entire force due to some rotten eggs within.

We have lived in Malaysia long enough to know what the police force is capable of, and so I think it is only fitting that all proud citizens should be educated about their equal rights too. Police back home are well known for some of the more cynical commitments, especially on the busy roads of KL and the ‘intimidation video‘ surfaced weeks back didn’t help ease the pressure at all.

While I do not support entirely of what the person who recorded the video did, I suppose she had only done so as a form of security knowing that there are so many bogus civil servants lurking in the hustle and bustle of our glorious city of Kuala Lumpur, taking advantage of our helplessness and lack of knowledge in dealing with such tricky situations.

Though I am fortunate enough not to have any bad experiences with the police force, it is vital that we know our rights should such occurrence arise. Cheng Leong of Xes, also a lawyer who shares his passion for food (that only makes me crave even more so in the wee hours of cold Melbourne night), has posted an article regarding related issues and therefore, I would like to share with my loved ones too.

The Redbook, as issued by Malaysian Bar, contains invaluable information when dealing with Police can be found here. Do have a thorough look and be street wise.

Future Music Festival 2011

Future Entertainment has finally released the line-ups for their much anticipated annual Future Music Festival! Personally, I think the line-ups pretty good but I’ve seen the likes of Chemical Brothers, Sander van Doorn, Steve Aoki and Sven Vath. Not that I’d actually give it a pass had I not decided to go for Stereosonic and Armin Only, but these events can really lay a heavy blow on your financial status.

But then again, Future Music Festival 2011 is 5 months from now so who knows? The only one that has eluded me so far is Cosmic Gate, which I would definitely go for should they be headlining the after party event. I reckon Mark Ronson, MGMT and Steve Angello would be great to witness too, and not forgetting Richie Hawtin whose music my brother fancied listening to back then for he was a REAL techno fan.

Future Music Festival will be touring Australia as always from 5th March 2011 onwards, with Brisbane being the first stop of the music carnival, followed by Perth on the 6th. Melbourne will have its fair share of fun on the 13th March, which also happens to be the Labour Day long weekend. Sweet.

Be there or not, all that I’m asking for is NOT a bloody repeat of the horrendous weather that wrecked havoc across Melbourne earlier this year. And well, maybe not Ke$ha either cause she’d be thrashing the stage with her BLAH BLAH BLAH nonsense.

Sanctuary

11 October 2010

Gareth Emery feat. Lucy Saunders – Sanctuary (Club Mix)

Between the spaces where we long to be,
Beyond together and alone,
And at the edge where you fade into me.
We’ll find a shelter we call home,
Call home…

Escape the shadows that were haunting me,
Slip these chains of flesh and bone.
And in the circles where we know we’re free,
This is the place that we call home.

When there’s nowhere left to run,
Run with me.
Let the moment be a century.

When it’s all that you’ve become,
Set it free.
Let this moment be a sanctuary.
