Zouk Kuala Lumpur 3rd Anniversary

30

May

Sweltering hot weather and late lunch don’t go along well cause it makes you feel very much like a jellyfish at this hour. Dear is still in college as I sit down in front of this old piece of junk trying to kill time. And so I was browsing through the giga collection of pictures I have taken over the years. Some pictures really crack me up though Im not going to go into detail about that.

And I just realized that I havent blogged anything about Zouk KL’s 3rd Anniversary! What a shame :( Well, something not to be forgotten about as I was still working as freelance photographer back then. Yean, who belongs to Zouk’s marketing team requested me to join the rest of the photographers to snap pictures of celebrities on that very glamorous night itself.

So I did, and boy did I had one helluva great night snapping away gorgeous people, with Maya Karin being the first person I took pictures of. Daym, she looks freaking hot in person! Well then of course, not forgetting to mention, I have the most beautiful date as my partner on the night even though she spent more time hogging the bars for free flow instead. Tsk ;P

Atmosphere was vibrant with great vibes flowing down the red carpet that leads VIPS into the main Zouk complex. While some others were too shy to have their pictures taken, my company of the night thought otherwise so, and gracefully posed for the cameras. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to snap any of them in their most vain moment.

As my fingers start swelling after having taken hundreds of pics, out came what claims to be Zouk’s very own Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Bruce Lee and co. They were just a bunch of entertainers who tried a little too hard. Just my opinion though. Jessica Rabbit looked so manly, it’s not funny at all!

And what’s a night out at the renowned club without bumping into friends? Hehehehehe, the people I met are mainly regulars so it didn’t pose much of a surprise to me. Hooi San was spotted with her usual group of friends as they venture to Velvet religiously, whereas Amy… Well she works was working for Zouk. Not forgetting Eugene with his girlfriend And Avril as well! Bumped into her at the VIP lounge upstairs. Good to see you!

Without wasting much time, we proceeded to the mainroom and got ourselves couple of drinks. The bar was full throughout the whole night so claiming for my complimentary drinks were such a hassle. Therefore, I didn’t drink much and stayed sober. Hooi San was so kind to offer me one of her free beers knowing that I was too lazy to queue up for my own drinks! Thanks!

I guess the main highlight of the whole event would probably be the fashion showcase by Miss Sixty and Energie. I was fortunate enough to earn a place right in front of the stage, thus having able to snap some really beautiful pictures. Belinda C was the emcee of the night and she looks pretty too!

What’s a celebration without popping the champagne with confettis and fireworks? I was so close to the stage, I could taste the the essence of champagne in the air and almost had my shirt burnt by the fireworks on the sides. Dangerous to be a photographer!

Once everything was done, the regular night resumed with Terence C dishing out some really good tunes before Fono took over and blew our heads with a very uplifting set. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to stay till the end of the night but I managed to catch Tiesto’s Lethal Industry (Richard Durand remix) before I left! Freaking awesome..

We stood right in front of the deck, towering over the rest of the crowd with the stage shaking like it was gonna collapse anytiem soon. Hehehehe I still remember Terence was fooling with Chin by flashing her with the back strobelights. Quite blinding after a while…

Overall, I had a great night and the people with me made it all the more memorable! I have to leave now so I’ll leave the pictures to do the remaining talkings. Will be watching Pirates of the Carribean: At Worlds’ End with my dear. Bye all!

Roadtrip to Malacca was fun, even though we didn’t get to do much.
It was a total getaway from the hustles and bustles of the city life here in Kuala Lumpur.
Will update more once I get back, ay?

DJ Tiesto ft. Christian Burns- In The Dark

Well it seems
Like the world around is just breaking
And it feels
Llike there’s no one else around you
And it’s quiet
There is a silence in the darkness
And it sounds
Like the carnival is over

As you walk
In the crowded empty spaces
And you stare
At the emptiness around you
You wanna go
To the city and the bright lights
Get away
From the sinners that surround you

Cause I’ll be there and you will be there
And we’ll find each other in the dark
And you will see and I’ll see it too
Cause we’ll be together in the dark

Cause if it is coming for you
Then it’s coming for me
Cause I will be there
Cause we need each other in the dark

And if it terrifies you
Then it terrifies me
Cause I will be there
So we’ve got each other in the dark

As I look into the sky
The stars bright as eyes
You want me to take you over there
I want you to stay with me
Cause you’re not the only one
The only one

No no
Don’t worry
You’re not the only one

Cause if it’s coming for you
Then it’s coming for me
And I will be there
Cause we need each other in the dark

And if it’s panicking you
Then it’s panicking me
And I will be there
So we’ve got each other in the dark

Pre Graduation Dinner @ Yuen Steamboat

In the midst of the last presentation ever, celebrations were being carried out silently deep down inside of us and happiness overflowing. My team and I were fortunate enough having picked as the second group to present cause we couldn’t wait to get it done and over with. The presentation lasted for the whole day and none of us actually ate before that. Well, it was all worth it.

Some presented well, while the rest didn’t really put much effort in it as the contrast in performance was clearly apparent. I’m contented with my team and the amount of workload they’ve put in together to make this a successful one. Well done to everyone because it’s finally time to party before we step foot on to the real business world!

It was a big sigh of relief, after going through three tormenting years having to deal with LUCT’s disgusting management and particularly one staff who gets paid doing nothing but fiddling with his handphone and only willing to work after lunch time. No names or fingers pointed :) Go figure it out. Well, MOST if not all, of the lecturers have been real fantastic and most importantly friends and classmates who helped made these whole three years an easier and memorable ride.

Then of course, with all assignments and responsibilities as a student put aside, this calls for celebration as a graphic design diploma graduate! So off we went to Yuen Steamboat at Sunway for a whole and scrumptious meal. The growth of the business is astounding after having eating as a loyal customer for almost five years, Yuen Steamboat now accomodates one whole block of building for itself with mini elevator to transport customers from ground to second floor!

Due to unforseen circumstances, few didn’t manage to turn up while the rest simply just couldn’t make it. We still had much fun (and food) nonetheless. And till now, I still have yet to believe that I actually sat there for four solid hours and stuffing myself with food. OMG, I’ve never eaten so much before in my entire life. I was dead hungry. Walking around after dinner was suffering cause it felt like I was defying gravity or something.

Everyone was too bloated to move or talk, so we started plotting our next plan which involves much less movement and concentration. Hence, the trip to GSC 1U for midnight movie of Blades of Glory! Movie was typically funny especially with Will Ferrell. Good for a round of silly laughter with friends and family. I’d give it a 7.3/10!

The night would have been the most perfect one if it hadn’t be the rain that fogged up the whole gondola so we couldnt see jack shit. Surrounding was bleak and dodgy at night too. Remember to bring a group of 6 along so you wouldn’t have to share the gondola with four overly-obsessed Friendster cinapeks..

And right, so Chelsea did avenged by claiming the FA Cup as their bigger consolation after having conceded the Premier League to Manchester United. I’m fine with it, although the last minute goal was kinda difficult to stomach for the first half an hour.

Beer and good company helped though :)

Bittersweet Chocolate Chunk Cakies

What better ways to start a day than waking up to a beautiful Saturday and meeting up with your dearest one for brunch before strolling across the bridge to Carrefour for grocery shopping? A pretty much spontaneous idea when Nat came up with this brilliant idea of baking cookies, and so it was!

I was up pretty early, knowing that Nat would drop by over at my place for this much anticipated occasion, and I had never baked in my entire life.. until that day itself. Well, sort of. Hahahaha.. Nat did pretty much most of the job while I was busy ‘documenting’ the whole process of baking. Wait, I helped out in cleaning up and melting the chocolates too! Oooh… so rich and thick.

The whole baking didn’t take long since we started late, at about 4:00pm… Blame it on the heavy brunch! We were too stuffed to actually get our ass working so we kinda just chilled out a bit while I laze on my bed. Hahahaha.. Grocery shopping is fun ONLY WHEN you intend to, otherwise it’s such a headache having to deal with aunties and uncles chasing after their lil’ devils in a hypermarket.

Well, not forgetting to mention, there was a bit of a scare though when we couldn’t get the oven to work at first. Turns out that it needs to be switched on for a 15 minutes warm-up session before you get to use it. We were panicking without having set the timer, therefore the oven didn’t .. get turned on?? It was all good in the end.. And oh, it’s a Pensonic! *points at the ad on the left*

The making of cookies are fun, but the result of it is even FUNNIER! Let’s just say that the cookies didn’t turn out exactly the way we wanted it to be. I’m not complaining though! The taste and texture of the cookies were perfect, albeit a little too soft. That’s why we called em’ cakies instead. Hahahahaha well obviously cause the fact that it tasted like chocolate cake.

Okay, the above picture doesn’t do justice to the cakies we baked full-heartedly together. It actually looks much better in real life, but too bad most of them are alredy in my tummy.. Hehehehe, probably out too by the time I finish typing this whole entry.

I had fun, and very much enjoyed the whole process of baking itself. And to make the occasion all the more memorable, the baking session commemorates the second month of us being together.. It’s been great 65 days, and counting, dear :)

More cookie baking sessions to come, yah??

Reminiscence: Portfolio Showcase ‘07 Part 2

May

Life has been pretty much uneventful. My diploma course is coming to an end already. Just another two days and I’ll be done and over with. Last presentation to dread over. Maison was freaking packed the other night and I don’t remember much towards the end of the night.

Here are more pictures taken on the third day of the portfolio showcase. Am still waiting for Andara to send me over the pictures from his camera. I didn’t get the chance to drop by college but apparently, there was a case of keychain theft. FUCKER, mine got stolen as well! Pfft… there goes my RM30 shiny bling-bling Botswana keychain… Eh, it actually kinda rhymes.

I baked for the very first time in my life too! Will update on that later tonight :)
