Penang Episode 02/02 : Hou Lan Yes Ah!

July
That is right! Barely has it been a month since the first road trip to Penang, we decided to endure the 362km of long windy road once again in return of yet another unforgettable journey! This time around, we had the same people with addition of the whole goatbrothers as part of the convoy. Oh, and how we missed you so, Brother Jit! Next time.. Next time..
Having learnt the routes from the first Penang trip, we made our way to the island without hassle and Chin, who was already in Penang then led us to our stay of the trip, Stella Maris (again)! With a much bigger group, we had to rent the bungalow unit instead with three big bedrooms to accomodate all eleven of us! The place itself is so spacious and a balcony with the perfect view of the beach.. Yum!
This was where the goatbrothers conduct their “meetings” and … hibernate.
It was a tiring day after a rather long drive from ever so busy Kuala Lumpur, so we decided to retreat to our very own beach and unwound instead. Hehehe well sort of.. The guys were playing soccer beach, screaming their lungs out like retards while the girls just indulged in excessive exposure of vitamin D. And nothing beats a bloody good meal at Gurney Drive after sports! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Reminds you of a scene from the Saw trilogy, no?
It was an early day as we planned on hitting the Feringghi Beach for some water sports! We were dying to indulge in some Penang delicacy as Teng Hann, being the kind tour guide of the day who brought us to some place which serves really good Orh Chien (fried oysters with egg) and Wat Tan Hor (flat noodles with egg sauce)! So good, we wanted more but I think they were closing shop, so we adjourned to our next location for chicken rice! HOU LAN YES AH!
The chicken rice shop itself was quite a walking distance away, as being told but Teng Hann made good use of shortcut alleys that we had no idea of their existence and arrived at our destination in no time! We even passed by this club with the dodgiest name ever… Would you go there to PARTY? :D And of course, what’s a good meal without a fine dessert… CHENDOL somemore!! Daym, this food blogging must really stop cause it’s making me hungry!
The girls with the sand castle props…
… While the rest busy playing volleyball…
…And Vincent spying on foreign chicks! Looked like PIN TAI LOU! HAHAHAHAHA!
HahAHhaHAhaHA pardon the erm… anti-climax by the way. So it was the usual beach outing with lots of sunshine absorbed and salty sea water consumed through my nose. Cough cough.. Thank goodness the weather was perfect, sipping on ice cold beer and listening to favourite trance anthems on my PSP as we lied down by the beach. HOU LAN YES AH!
The ladies who never seem to shy away from the cameras!
Then there were the ones who shamelessly asked me to take picture of.
This picture never fails to crack me up. Some real Kodak moments.
Not all guys are always that manly.. Eugene and Vincent make a good couple, IMO.
Can I hear you people say, “AWWWWWWWW!” Joel playing sand castle all by himself..
Some thought they’d get away from their scandalous acts while everyone else was busy..
It’s fun to stay at the …. WHYYYYY-AMMMMM-SEEEE-EHHHH??
The blokes. Some available, some not. Please inquire within!
The ladies. SORRY, ALL NOT AVAILABLE! NO FURTHER QUESTIONS WELCOMED!
The Penang convoy. The ones who made this trip a very much enjoyable one!
And so came the night. William brought us to a place which reminded me much of our very own SS2 Wai Sik Kai but obviously, the food served was much better! Like hello? You’re stuffing yourself silly with food originated from the very same place itself! Everyone was too busy eating to even take pictures of our silly faces. Yums!
The mandatory picture of the Raining Trio!
ANCHOR STRONG! Where is my AH MAH LENG THONG!?
With only hours remaining till the next day we drive home, some probably thought they were spared from drinking after an initial proposal from one of the godbrothers. Boy, were they wrong cause the godbrothers came with almost a carton of beer! The very same night we were taught the “traditional” method of drinking off the bowl, hence the AH MAH LENG THONG (mommy’s great homemade soup).
Surely did sound like an easy task, but NO! As soon as your lips touches the bowl, that’s when you are suppose to GULP DOWN the whole bowl of beer in ONE single attempt! There’s no running away or second attempt, else fear the deadly wrath of the godbrothers with much worse tormenting drinking games. HOU LAN YES AH!
The last day actually came too soon and we weren’t ready to bid farewell for the second time in such a short time. William brought us to the nearby food court for one last time of sinful indulgence before taking the ferry back to the mainland. Hehehehe jakuns, we are.
I can firmly say that this Penang trip has got to be the BEST, ever! Probably for a very long time. Times like these make me realize how blessed I am having surrounded by such beautiful friends. Thank you so much for the kind hospitality, William and also the godbrothers! Couldn’t have asked for more! And what a PERFECT company I was together with throughout the trip.
Pardon me but I’m currently listening to Oceanlab’s debut album and this very particular track Ashes is making me feeling all emo! *Sob sob* Beautiful album indeed, just as expected from my trio idol, Above & Beyond!
So, that’s it! Another chapter closed! Penang, we shall come again this end year!!
THANK YOU! ALWAYS WILL BE DAMN HOU LAN YES AH! VERY THE ENJOYS!
Penang Episode 01/02 : The Beginning!

After viewing the pictures taken during the Great Ocean Road roadtrip, I can’t help but to look at the ones we took back then in Penang with the craziest group of people you’d ever hang out with. I know this post turns out to be rather spontaneous but shh! It’s about time I offload these overdue pictures, what more of a trip which deserves a post on its own!
While it didn’t take us long to come up with a plan on driving up north, the journey itself took about three hours to get to Penang, and wasted no time in making our first stop at Gurney Drive for the food! The whole getaway gave me some sort of nostalgic feeling, given the fact that the last time I went to Penang was two years prior to the trip.
Possibly one of the most memorable trips to date, having the best “foster family” who accommodated to our jakun needs as tourists and unselfishly poured jugs of alcohol down our throat as the night approached. Much credit goes to William “taikor” and the godbrothers!
The trip we made on Boxing Day was short but eventful, though it was initially meant to be a rather chilling one. Sitting by the side of the beach, sipping on alcohol while getting swept off the ground by the calm breeze of the sea and listening to the waves… What more having the opportunity to hang out with William and his family. Such an honor!
Seafood and QEII the following night which eventually led to a very intoxicated night for me. Jug after jugs, the amount of beers we consumed were out of the world! Unfortunately for me, that was only the beginning especially when you drink with the godbrothers! I left my mark by the side of the road at a nearby mamak stall after that. Hahahahahaha… Not funny!
Even with a hangover, the final day arrived and so we bade farewell and drove home with much fond memories.. Till we realized that Penang was so much fun, we couldn’t help but to…
BIGGER,BADDER,CRAZIER,HOULANYESAH MOMENTS, OH… AND “A”..
MORE TO COME!

Holla! The past weekend has been an exciting one as we embarked on a journey to the Great Ocean Road. Wished we had more time to spend on though because there is so much to do than just overlooking the paramount view of the 12 Apostles, which is undoubtedly breathtaking. The whole driving experience was fun and reminded me much of the Penang trip we had earlier this year!
More on that later as results for my previous semester are finally out! Not like I was panicking over the outcome of the semester, although it did bothered me for a moment after the final submissions. Could have done better but I kinda tumbled over the last hurdle, so I guess the results are pretty much justified. I’m happy!
The whole world is currently on a iPhone frenzy! After having missed out on the worldwide launch last Friday due to roadtrip, we couldn’t care less after coming home and scurried to the nearest Optus dealer shop to have a look at the new phenomenon. And what a beauty it is, I must say. The itch to get one is starting to grow in me as well! Pfft… Contagious indeed!
BBaaaAaaaHhhHhH~!
This coming semester is going to be a great one, not just because I uphold the tradition of saying that every half a year in hope of making a difference, but the fact that both Chin and Vincent will be here as well! HOU LAN YES AH! The reunion of my Trance kakis’, at last! Eveline is already in Melbourne so it feels good to meet up with the ones I haven’t seen in a long time!
Wowee! Enough of nonsensical ramblings for the day, for I shall now shower you with heap lots of pictures taken during VII’s First Anniversary couple weeks ago!
04 JULY 08 : VII’S FIRST ANNIVERSARY VIP PARTY
From dim sims to free flow of basics and spirit, I had much fun at VII’s first anniversary party a fortnight ago! Time surely flies as I can still recall how it was only VII’s grand opening when I touched down in Melbourne last year. Back in those days when the crowd was still alright and then suddenly, VII’s crazily packed on every single Friday night! It’s a warzone out there just to get into the club. Good times with Eugene, Brother Jit, Ivan and the rest, nonetheless!
Admission was strict as invited guests can only go in with the special pass.
Derek just had to use this picture out of so many others on Facebook :\
Never seen VII so brightly lit before. Just nice to accomodate all 300 guests @ sideroom.
VII’s birthday cake.. I was late so it became ‘VI’ instead..
Sexy Derek and I. Thanks for the invitation!
Ivan, Aaron, Andrew and I.
Jin Yin and I.
Wei Hann and I. I think it was his farewell party on that Friday night itself.
Then I bumped into Cindy, my classmate!
Chee Yong, the one who shares the same birthday with Aris!
Joanne, Melissa, Ivan, Matthew and … some drunkard!
Packed to the brim!
Chris and I.
Ivan, Derek and I.
Together with Melissa and Joanne.
Jin Yin with the ones from Perth!
Erm… Kenneth and I? I forgot his name! Sorry…
The ladies… I don’t remember taking this picture??

Howdy ho, people! Hope the winter break is coming along well for everybody who probably is having one helluva a crazy time out there. Not so much for me though, having stayed at home most of the time due to financial crisis and unconditional weather which seriously are wrecking a storm in me.
Woke up at 9am this morning to purchase tickets for Godskitchen and found myself struggling with a fever and sore throat. Not a very good sign, I suppose. Slept through the day and here I am blogging shit, yet again.
William and Aaron, both coming from the Newcastle, NSW, have been around for the past week or so, hanging out at Penny’s temporary residency and playing Winning Eleven on XBox. Don’t think I’ll be heading anywhere this Friday, thus allowing me time to post the long overdue pictures taken the weekends before! Wowee!
Steamed prawns with ginger in soy sauce.
Penny, the cook of the night!
Four KGs of flower crab (FA HAI!) and a mountain high of man taus’.
Penny, generous as always, cooked us dinner at Wkkay’s place before our showdown at VII. We had chilli crab and prawns for dinner! We even had deep-fried ‘man taus‘ to go with the gravy. Hahahaha thank goodness we didn’t end up bringing the drinks into the toilet as well. Can’t never get enough of Penny’s cooking!
27 JUNE 08 : END OF EXAMS PARTY @ VII
Back to the days when you have to queue up for an hour just to get into the club. Everyone certainly was giving their all in downing the row of shots lined up along the bar. I had my fair share of drinks and still can’t recall much towards the end of the night up till now. Goes to show how alcohol actually kills your brain cells! Beware!
Ivan, Penny and I.
Jin Yin, Cin Vin and Michelle.
Jin Yin and I, before someone got really drunk!
Mizan and I.
Myself, Cin Vin, Jien Ann and boyfriend, Wilson.
Jin Yin, myself and Jonathan.
Chee Yong and I.
Ivan, myself, Sean and er… Ron??
Wendy and I. My senior back in high school!
Guess the ones in the picture yourself!
Sexy Derek and I.
Uh oh. I don’t remember taking this picture with Derek and Jonathan..
Happy Happy Party Together!
Okay I’m gonna have to make a move now. Take care and have a good day!
