Trance Overdose!

29

August

With Godskitchen, Global Gathering and Sensation locked on for the next coming months, we thought it’d be a pretty good session for a warm-up with both Ronski Speed and Christopher Lawrence around on two different nights just last week.

Being in a state of a country which is well-known for its long run of big-scaled parties throughout the years, we couldn’t help but to immerse ourselves in a state of trance, back to back from Friday to Saturday. Something we never thought of being able to achieve but miraculously pulled it through. Very body-taxing indeed but nonetheless, a bloody good time with the rest!

Ronski Speed held a Melbourne-only show here at Stargarden last week and we were fortunate enough to secure the much-appreciated guestlists from Mizan. Thanks buddy! Considering it was the first time we step foot into Viper Room, we were slightly taken aback by the immensely small size of the club .

The turn-out was far less than what we initially expected, but hey I ain’t complaining cause it made up to a really good dance floor with hardcore Ronski enthusiasts tearing it apart when he took over the decks at 1am. Ronski wasted no time in making his appearance felt by dropping the beats of Above & Beyond-Tri-State (Club Mix). Chin and I went deliriously mental together with the crowd.

And here’s something that we have gotten so accustomed to doing at each and every gig:
IDENTIFYING TRACKS!!

TRACKLISTING for Ronski Speed @ Stargarden, Viper Room 22 AUGUST 2008

1. Above & Beyond - Tri-State (Club Mix)
2. Lange - Out of the Sky (Kyau & Albert Remix)
3. Cressida - 6.A.M (Kyau & Albert Remix)
4. Andy Duguid feat. Leah - Wasted (Original Mix)
5. Veracocha - Carte Blanche (Cosmic Gate Remix)
6. ID
7. Oceanlab - Miracle (Above & Beyond Club Mix)
8. Ronski Speed - Aural Slave
9. Super8 & DJ Tab - Elektra (Original Mix)
10. Kyau & Albert - Neo Love ?
11. Paul van Dyk feat. Ashley Tomberlin - New York City (Super8 and DJ Tab remix)
12. Armin van Buuren - In and Out Of Love (Richard Durand Remix)
13. Vengeance - Temptation (Denga & Manus Remix)
14. Ronski Speed - All The Way
15. Markus Schulz vs. Andy Moor - Daydream (Ronski Speed Remix)
16. ID
17. Cafe Del Mar - Energy 52 (ID Remix)
18. Ronski Speed vs. Rex Mundi - The Perspective Space (Markus Schulz mash-up)
19. Ronski Speed vs. Oceanlab - E.O.S Satellite !!
20. Ronski Speed - Evapor8
21. Duderstadt vs. Ronski Speed- Smile vs. Can’t Sleep (Ronski Speed remix)

The tracklist speaks more than a thousand words itself. Ronski certainly gave more than we could have ever asked for, blending a healthy mixture of old and new tracks which totally blew the roof off! There wasn’t even any time to rest with Bexta coming on after a relatively short set from Ronski (barely two hours *shrugs*) as she played Nic Chagall-What You Need (Marco V remix).

And because Ivan had class the following day, we didn’t get to stay to see Sophie Sugar on the decks but long enough having listened to Marcel Woods- Lemon Tree, Tiesto feat. BT- Break My Fall (Richard Durand remix), Bedrock- Heaven Scent and Blank & Jones feat. Bernard Summer - Miracle Cure (Martin Roth Nu-Style Dub Mix).

No picture with Ronski Speed this time around but we are still contented with his set and a picture together dated back to August 2006. Hehehe oh, boy do we looked young back then!

That was Friday, but then of course the party didn’t stop just there. Last Saturday was the official opening of Future Entertainment’s Infinity trance club @ QBH! With Christopher Lawrence and Melbourne’s finest trance DJs, the event was not to be missed and we were certainly glad we didn’t. With only an hour to go before Christopher, Mike Nichol of Armada dropped quite a few interesting tunes, including Sunlounger feat. Zara- Lost!

That really got me all pumping for the next songs but it was quite a bit of a disappointment with Christopher’s set being a little bland at certain points. He started off really well but it went consistently inconsistent. I was getting bored and it became a little too progressive for my liking. Like… flat! And so we waited till Steve Strangis came on about 3am..

And that’s when everyone was brought back into life! Steve Strangis made an instant impact by dropping the tunes of Vincent de Moor- Fly Away(Cosmic Gate Remix) after Christopher ended his set with Sean Tyas pres. Logistic- One More Night Out. It just went on till 4.30am, filled with surprises and songs long unheard of.

The night was packed to the brim, with so much anticipation built over the past months when people were well informed of the FIRST ever weekly trance night out. But the highlight of the night probably has got to be the amount of muzzas loitering around the dancefloor. It was at minimal and the ones who turned up really ripped it on the floor!

Steve ended at 4.30am and so we called it a night, but not before he played The Doppler Effect- Beauty Hides In The Deep (John O’ Callaghan remix).

Talk about trance overdose, ay?

Going Cho Gao now! Take care people and have a lovely weekend!

Nowhere To Hide

It comes too soon, and I haven’t gotten the list of what I want for my birthday done! But ultimately, that’s not important. I have surpass the stage where birthdays no longer come as a surprise package and something to look forward to anymore. The supposedly joyous occasion turns into yet another ordinary day, once again.

Been thinking much lately, and guess what I need most at this very moment is the warmth and comfort of home. I’m missing every one of you already. Counting down till December!

Just let your fears go
You might find your way back home
Let your fears go
You might find that you’re not lost

While it took more than several occasions for me to come up with a proper post, I just haven’t been bothered doing so every other time due to hectic schedule. Am already 5th week into my final semester, as we speak and so many things about TR application to deal with. Whatever it takes for me to stay here in Melbourne beyond 2008!

And I’m saying that only because I have to prioritize my own career. It’s been more than a year since I left home to pursue my degree course here in Melbourne and well, life has never been better. Or could it have been the fact that I needed a break so badly from all the series of unfortunate events back home that I find solace here in the windy state of Melbourne, Victoria.

I have come to like this place so much, it hurts to bid farewell when I eventually graduate this December. I can’t even bear thinking of going back home! Or perhaps not so soon? A job here would definitely benefit me so much more, considering the field that I have chosen to spend my entire life in. I have learnt so much more than I ever did throughout the 3 years spent in Limkokwing University of Creative Technoloshit.

Sister was around earlier this month so we were able to celebrate her birthday at VII. Could have been a really good night but drama unfolded so our intoxicated night was cut short and went to Chilli Padi for supper instead. Some family bonding session indeed but the fact that she had to leave came too soon and now I gotta wait for another 3 months till we meet again.

I meant to blog about the Falls Creek ski trip as well as the birthday celebration but that will come soon enough. Just have to offload these pictures taken at VII during the weekend before our ski trip.
