With Godskitchen, Global Gathering and Sensation locked on for the next coming months, we thought it’d be a pretty good session for a warm-up with both Ronski Speed and Christopher Lawrence around on two different nights just last week.
Being in a state of a country which is well-known for its long run of big-scaled parties throughout the years, we couldn’t help but to immerse ourselves in a state of trance, back to back from Friday to Saturday. Something we never thought of being able to achieve but miraculously pulled it through. Very body-taxing indeed but nonetheless, a bloody good time with the rest!
Ronski Speed held a Melbourne-only show here at Stargarden last week and we were fortunate enough to secure the much-appreciated guestlists from Mizan. Thanks buddy! Considering it was the first time we step foot into Viper Room, we were slightly taken aback by the immensely small size of the club .
The turn-out was far less than what we initially expected, but hey I ain’t complaining cause it made up to a really good dance floor with hardcore Ronski enthusiasts tearing it apart when he took over the decks at 1am. Ronski wasted no time in making his appearance felt by dropping the beats of Above & Beyond-Tri-State (Club Mix). Chin and I went deliriously mental together with the crowd.
And here’s something that we have gotten so accustomed to doing at each and every gig:

The tracklist speaks more than a thousand words itself. Ronski certainly gave more than we could have ever asked for, blending a healthy mixture of old and new tracks which totally blew the roof off! There wasn’t even any time to rest with Bexta coming on after a relatively short set from Ronski (barely two hours *shrugs*) as she played Nic Chagall-What You Need (Marco V remix).
And because Ivan had class the following day, we didn’t get to stay to see Sophie Sugar on the decks but long enough having listened to Marcel Woods- Lemon Tree, Tiesto feat. BT- Break My Fall (Richard Durand remix), Bedrock- Heaven Scent and Blank & Jones feat. Bernard Summer - Miracle Cure (Martin Roth Nu-Style Dub Mix).
No picture with Ronski Speed this time around but we are still contented with his set and a picture together dated back to August 2006. Hehehe oh, boy do we looked young back then!
That was Friday, but then of course the party didn’t stop just there. Last Saturday was the official opening of Future Entertainment’s Infinity trance club @ QBH! With Christopher Lawrence and Melbourne’s finest trance DJs, the event was not to be missed and we were certainly glad we didn’t. With only an hour to go before Christopher, Mike Nichol of Armada dropped quite a few interesting tunes, including Sunlounger feat. Zara- Lost!
That really got me all pumping for the next songs but it was quite a bit of a disappointment with Christopher’s set being a little bland at certain points. He started off really well but it went consistently inconsistent. I was getting bored and it became a little too progressive for my liking. Like… flat! And so we waited till Steve Strangis came on about 3am..
And that’s when everyone was brought back into life! Steve Strangis made an instant impact by dropping the tunes of Vincent de Moor- Fly Away(Cosmic Gate Remix) after Christopher ended his set with Sean Tyas pres. Logistic- One More Night Out. It just went on till 4.30am, filled with surprises and songs long unheard of.
The night was packed to the brim, with so much anticipation built over the past months when people were well informed of the FIRST ever weekly trance night out. But the highlight of the night probably has got to be the amount of muzzas loitering around the dancefloor. It was at minimal and the ones who turned up really ripped it on the floor!
Steve ended at 4.30am and so we called it a night, but not before he played The Doppler Effect- Beauty Hides In The Deep (John O’ Callaghan remix).
Talk about trance overdose, ay?
Going Cho Gao now! Take care people and have a lovely weekend!
