My weekend, gone just like that! So much work to do, not even suppose to be blogging but here I am doing so. Roger Shah was in town and no way in hell were we going to give it a miss. The very much anticipated night at ROOM680, packed to the brim but friendly people as always. Venue isn’t as big as I initially expected, but good enough to accommodate the thousand strong Balearic crowd! And what a night it was, with Roger Shah playing an extended four hour set. We got more than what we bargained for. A little bit quiet but so much passion when he holds his keyboard high up and played songs you’d never expected.
The night started off with a little get-together at Club85. Pizzas, pastas and a ‘little bit’ of alcohol to get the mood pumping. Hahahaha kononnya… We ended up heading to Phrahran feeling light headed but it all eventually subsided when Roger Shah took control of the console. OH, what a waste!
There were just way too many tunes that sound awfully familiar. Shah dropped mostly of his very own as Sunlounger and DJ Shah. One Night In Tokyo, Chinese Theater, Crawling, Back To You, Change Your Mind, Who Will Find Me, To The Sky, Going Wrong, For An Angel, Lift Me Up, White Sands, Catwalk, Don’t Wake Me Up, Body Lotion, You’re So Cool, As The Rush Comes, Lost, Beautiful Things,SOUTHERN SUN!… And there was a tear of joy when he actually dropped his very own mix of Samara’s Verano. I wasn’t expecting it since the track’s been absent from his past few sets.
Visual effects, needless to say, was pure sublime albeit a little too overwhelming for a club. I’ll leave the pictures and videos to do the rest of the talking. I’ll just end the post with WHAT A NIGHT IT WAS!
Can someone help me ID this track, please?
Even with all the temptations of dirt cheap imported beer, expensive labour, extended hours of partying, insanely mind-blowing raves, four-seasons a day, stimulus packages (not applicable to us anyway), JB Hi-Fi, drinkable tap water, affordable luxury cars and Holdens, choices of liquor available at nearby bottle shops, Hungry Jacks (the burgers are better indeed), beautiful environment, high-speed internet and etc..
Melbourne has just got so much more to offer BUT..there’s only one place I want to be at most right now.

And now the final hurdle, to Rome we shall conquer!
18th Premier League title, as the Reds go marching ON ON ON!
1. Six gentlemen, three ladies for ten (or was it eleven?) jugs of beer.
2. Harassing the junk jukebox machine of EXTENSIVE track database with love for music.
(Note: Don’t Wake Me Up, Made Of Love, Womanize…… WHAT!)
3. “When Manchester United and Liverpool play, there’s Riley Scott… I mean, Mike Riley!”
4. Missed out on the last jug of beer by 3 minutes as the bar closed 15 minutes to 4AM.
5. The man who speaks a little bit of French, English and KUNG-FU!
6. Befriending random people on the way home by requesting jug of beer.
7. Checkpoint at Maccas for some good ol’ Chicken McNuggets.
8. Fascinated by the emptiness of QV food court at 4:30AM, like DUH!
9. Group picture, and then hardly remember walking back home.
10. Woke up with these pictures! :)
From what initially destined to be yet another boring Friday night, a group of us miraculously ended up at Backpackers bar after hopping from others only to find that they were closing (like 1AM, WTF!). Much fun and noise indeed!
This calls for more backpackers sessions, fellas! Till then, tonight will be the first time I club in months! Feels socially deprived, so I decided to leave Alexandria home for the night while I make new friends!
Oh, and I learn from the best, that is YOU.
Guess it’s about time I actually post SOMETHING just to liven up the dampened mood here before Fractionize dies off yet again.. And also because I skipped my class earlier today, not feeling too well and a disturbing call from back home. I need more inspirations! I no longer know what I want..
On a lighter note, here are some pictures taken weeks ago during our official house warming session of Club 85. Turn-out was good, although it could have been much better if it wasn’t due to the lousy host who inexcusably forgot to invite few others. My apologies to you people and vow to make it up to you guys the next time round (winter break!)
Great fun + great music + great people + 2 Black Label, 1 Singleton + 2 Bacardi Apple + 1 Champagne + lousy neighbors = A night to remember.
Updates on Club85’s successful house warming session to come soon enough. Am just caught up with a bit more work and well, procrastination’s always the case. Nothing to worry about anyway.
In the meantime, here’s something I’ve always wanted to do but never put much effort in. So there you go, my first ever compiled set of some of my favourite tunes of the moment. Never mind the occasional looping blunder, double beats and horrendous transition from one song to another. Practice makes perfect, I believe in!
